The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated an international conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in Armed Conflict. This event underscores Armenia’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and bolsters its candidacy for membership in the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

The government has allocated a budget of 34.8 million AMD for the event, covering airfare for guests, hotel accommodations, transportation, venue rental, stage design, official receptions, and printed materials.

The conference aims to highlight Armenia’s expertise in using modern technologies to safeguard cultural heritage and to draw attention to the urgent need for protecting Armenian cultural sites in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Additionally, on December 18-19, 2024, Armenia will host the Ministerial Meeting of the Ancient Civilizations Forum as part of its presidency of the organization. This forum provides an opportunity for Armenia to present its approaches to promoting a culture of peace, intercultural dialogue, and the protection of cultural and religious heritage of ancient civilizations, advancing international cooperation in these fields.
