Actor Charles Melton has publicly addressed the persistent online speculation linking him to the upcoming Marvel X-Men reboot. In a recent interview with The Playlist, Melton responded to rumors that he might be cast as the character Beast, a suggestion that has gained traction among fans due to his ongoing professional collaboration with the film’s creative team.
The speculation stems largely from the involvement of Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and director Jake Schreier in the Marvel project. Melton, who starred in the critically acclaimed series Beef, acknowledged that the connection between his past work and the studio’s current development plans is the primary driver behind the casting rumors. While promoting the second season of Beef for Netflix, the actor noted that he generally avoids consuming online rumors about himself, jokingly admitting that he tries to resist the urge to search his own name.
When asked about the possibility of reuniting with Jin and Schreier for a superhero feature, Melton expressed openness to the prospect. He refrained from confirming any official involvement in the X-Men production, though he pointed toward the upcoming D23 Convention as a potential venue where Marvel might unveil official casting details. Melton’s career has seen a significant trajectory shift following his breakout role in Riverdale and his acclaimed performance in May December, which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
