Production on the second season of the Paramount+ with Showtime series Dexter: Resurrection is moving forward, with writer and executive producer Scott Reynolds sharing new behind-the-scenes updates. Reynolds confirmed on social media that filming is currently underway on Episode 208, posting a photo of a production clapperboard to Instagram. Alongside the production update, Reynolds shared a behind-the-scenes look at new cast member Dan Stevens, praising his performance in the upcoming season.
Stevens joins the series as a regular, portraying “The Five Borough Killer,” a serial murderer terrorizing New York City. The character’s methods draw comparisons to the real-life Zodiac Killer, using phone calls to taunt local police and threaten the lives of citizens.
The second season of the Clyde Phillips-led series features a highly anticipated ensemble. Alongside returning lead Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the cast includes Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son, Harrison, and Desmond Harrington, who has been promoted to a series regular. Notable new additions include Brian Cox as Don Framt, also known as “The New York Ripper”—an inactive serial killer who continues to torment the survivors of his past crimes. Framt was first referenced during the show’s first season when Dexter and Detective Wallace (Kadia Saraf) discovered a file on him in the vault of Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage. Additionally, Gabriel Luna joins as Ray Ballard, a serial killer operating under the moniker “The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.”
Furthermore, Bokeem Woodbine joins the cast as homicide captain Captain Mixon, with Nona Parker Johnson playing his daughter Fiona Mixon, a training officer who becomes Harrison’s new love interest. Returning cast members include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Sarif, Dominic Fumusa, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, and James Remar.
According to the official logline, Season 2 will follow Dexter Morgan as he is caught between two distinct killers while navigating a midlife crisis, while his son Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice.
