France’s support for Armenia is unconditional, comprehensive, and unwavering, according to Olivier Decottignies, the French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia. Speaking to reporters on January 13, the ambassador reaffirmed France’s steadfast commitment to Armenia during a press briefing.
The ambassador emphasized that France fully supports Armenia, stating that this support is not merely political but also a moral and diplomatic obligation. He highlighted that this commitment was clearly expressed by French President Emmanuel Macron and includes the protection of Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Ambassador Decottignies also wished peace for Armenia, noting that words alone are not enough to achieve peace. He reiterated France’s dedication to fostering long-term and just peace in the region, expressing readiness to assist Armenia in achieving that goal.
“This is a commitment to long-term and just peace in the region, but it is also a pledge to stand by Armenia and safeguard its territorial integrity and inviolability,” the ambassador concluded.
France’s statement, especially amid ongoing tensions in the region, serves as a crucial signal of solidarity and reinforces its alliance with Armenia in securing international support for peace processes.
