Goy Theater’s actors have been staging a sit-in protest outside the theater’s entrance since October 7. Their primary demand is for the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports to facilitate a temporary solution allowing Goy Theater to resume operations until legal disputes are resolved.
The Goy Theater staff recently organized another protest outside the Investigation Department of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts. Today, they also plan to hold a protest near the Human Rights Defender’s office at 12:00.
This sit-in follows the government’s decision to merge Goy Theater with the National Academic Theater named after G. Sundukyan. Goy Theater’s cast is opposed to the merger, preferring to continue as an independent entity. They have filed a lawsuit contesting the government’s decision and seek to retain their autonomy and creative freedom in their existing space.
