The Greenburgh Police Department in Westchester, New York, successfully recovered a stolen bicycle on July 8, shortly after it was reported missing. The incident, which police described as a “cruel theft,” occurred in the Tarryhill Way area.

According to official reports, the bicycle had been recently purchased as a gift for a local child. Upon receiving the report at approximately 9 a.m., responding officers immediately began an investigation, securing surveillance footage and a partial license plate number. This information was disseminated to neighboring law enforcement agencies to assist in the search.

Later that same morning, members of the Greenburgh Police Department Drug and Alcohol Task Force identified the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers discovered the stolen bicycle in the back seat of the vehicle.

Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Randolf Kranwinkel of the Bronx. He has been charged with petit larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest—all of which are misdemeanors. Following his arraignment, Kranwinkel was released on his own recognizance. The bicycle has since been returned to its young owner.
