A Strategic Milestone in Turkish Hospitality

Hilton has officially reached a significant corporate milestone in Türkiye with the opening of the Hilton Istanbul Airport. This 485-room property, situated steps from one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, marks the 100th hotel in the company’s Turkish portfolio. The launch represents a concerted expansion effort by Hilton in a market where it has maintained a presence for over seven decades.

As the first internationally branded hotel located directly adjacent to Istanbul Airport grounds, the property is designed to cater to transit, business, and leisure travelers. The hotel features Hilton’s global dining concept, OXBO, marking its debut in the country, alongside extensive wellness facilities including an indoor pool, a Turkish bath, and a 24/7 fitness center. The hotel is owned by TAYA Real Estate Investment and Management Co. Inc. and operated under the Hilton management umbrella.

Expanding the Turkish Footprint

The opening of the Istanbul Airport location is part of a broader, aggressive expansion strategy for Hilton in Türkiye. According to company data, 2026 is projected to be a record-breaking year for the brand in the region, with 14 new property openings scheduled. This growth trajectory spans a diverse range of segments, from the iconic Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus to the introduction of the Spark by Hilton brand and the country’s first cave hotel concept in Cappadocia.

Market analysts note that these developments align with the ongoing recovery and sustained growth of the Turkish tourism sector. By securing prime locations like the Istanbul Airport hub, Hilton is positioning itself to capture high-volume traffic from both international transit passengers and local business travelers who require proximity to the terminal.

Infrastructure and Connectivity

Beyond the hotel’s internal amenities, the location emphasizes connectivity. The property is positioned to utilize the existing metro infrastructure, providing guests with direct transit access to Istanbul’s historic city center, including landmarks such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. For business travelers, the hotel offers eight meeting rooms and a grand ballroom capable of seating 250 guests, supported by an executive lounge with direct runway views.

David Kelly, senior vice president for Continental Europe at Hilton, emphasized that the 100-hotel milestone is not merely a quantitative achievement but a reflection of the brand’s long-term commitment to the Turkish market. The expansion is expected to continue through 2028, with new agreements across multiple brands—including DoubleTree and Hilton Garden Inn—already secured in various Turkish cities.
