The match, which lasted two hours and 17 minutes, saw Choinski overcome a resilient Gill, who had entered the draw as a lucky loser to replace top-seeded Taylor Fritz. After dropping the second set in a tie-break, Choinski regained momentum in the decider, hitting 13 winners and breaking his opponent twice to seal the win.

This achievement marks a significant turning point in Choinski’s career. According to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), this victory is projected to propel the British player into the top 100 world rankings for the first time.
