Leon Marchand Withdraws from French Championships

Four-time Olympic champion Leon Marchand has officially withdrawn from the remainder of the 2026 French Championships in Saint-Etienne. The decision follows an injury to the major adductor muscle in his right leg, sustained during the 200m breaststroke preliminary heats.

According to a statement from the French Swimming Federation, Marchand felt sharp pain during the third 50 meters of his heat. While initial medical evaluations, including ultrasound and MRI scans, showed no major structural damage, medical staff suspect a lesion. To prevent further aggravation, Marchand and his team have opted to withdraw from his remaining scheduled events, which included the 200m and 400m freestyle, 200m butterfly, and 200m individual medley. Marchand will undergo follow-up care at INSEP under the supervision of the French national team doctor.

Prior to the withdrawal, Marchand had delivered a dominant performance in the 400m individual medley, clocking 4:04.56—the fifth-fastest time in history.

Commit Swimming Enhances Meet Analytics

In industry technology news, swimming management platform Commit Swimming has announced the integration of embedded Meet Reports directly into its software. This update aims to streamline performance analysis for coaches by eliminating the need to navigate between multiple screens.

The new feature allows coaches to view personal bests, track percentage improvements, and apply time standards directly within the meet results interface. Enhanced filtering tools now enable users to search by gender, training group, or age, providing a more granular view of athlete performance. The platform, which competes with systems like SportsEngine Motion, continues to focus on swim-specific operational tools for competitive clubs.
