Lucid Motors has achieved a major milestone with the completion of its first Gravity SUV at the company’s production facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. The announcement, shared on X (formerly Twitter), signals the start of production for Lucid’s much-anticipated electric SUV. While the company has not disclosed when customers can expect their first deliveries, this development marks a significant turning point for the automaker.

The Gravity SUV represents a critical step forward for Lucid Motors, as it aims to capitalize on the popularity of SUVs in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Unlike the company’s Air sedan, which has faced slower-than-expected sales since its launch, the Gravity has the potential to broaden Lucid’s appeal and drive higher sales volumes.

The first model to hit the market, the Grand Touring edition, starts at $94,900 and boasts impressive features, including a range of over 440 miles on a single charge and 828 horsepower powered by dual electric motors. Buyers can choose between a standard two-row configuration or an optional three-row setup, offering flexibility for families and luxury seekers alike.

Lucid’s ambitious plans for the Gravity come as the company faces financial challenges. Despite recent increases in Air sedan sales, the automaker has repeatedly turned to its majority stakeholder, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, for financial support. This funding has been crucial in ensuring Lucid remains operational during the transition to Gravity production.

Looking ahead, Lucid plans to introduce a more affordable version of the Gravity in late 2025, priced at $79,900. This move could further solidify its position in the competitive EV market, allowing the company to compete with both established automakers and new entrants.

As production ramps up and the Gravity SUV prepares to hit the roads, Lucid Motors is positioning itself as a key player in the luxury EV segment. With a focus on range, performance, and versatility, the Gravity could become a flagship model that defines Lucid’s future in the electric vehicle revolution.
