CSU leader Markus Söder has released a festive rendition of “Weißer Winterwald” (White Winter Forest) as part of his election campaign, blending holiday cheer with political branding. Posted on social media, Söder described Christmas as a time for joy and peace in uncertain times.
The performance, marked by a dramatic rolling “R” and technical vocal enhancements, quickly went viral, generating over 1,500 likes and nearly 850 comments in five hours. Reactions ranged from mockery, with suggestions for a music career, to praise for the creative gesture.
Known for his unconventional campaign tactics, Söder has previously posed in Christmas sweaters and with his dog Louis to connect with voters. His winter song, while polarizing, successfully drew public attention—a key goal during election season.
