Government Tightens Entry Rules for Citizens of Several Countries

According to Azat TV the Armenian government has decided to tighten entry requirements for citizens of India, Iraq, and Egypt.

New requirements include:

  • Return flight ticket
  • Proof of financial means
  • Health insurance
  • Invitation from an Armenian legal entity or state body

According to NSS data, from January-August 2024, illegally residing in Armenia are:

  • 11,965 Indian citizens
  • 658 Egyptian citizens
  • 255 Iraqi citizens

The decision aims to prevent illegal migration and possible negative impact on the EU visa liberalization process.
