According to Azat TV the Armenian government has decided to tighten entry requirements for citizens of India, Iraq, and Egypt.
New requirements include:
- Return flight ticket
- Proof of financial means
- Health insurance
- Invitation from an Armenian legal entity or state body
According to NSS data, from January-August 2024, illegally residing in Armenia are:
- 11,965 Indian citizens
- 658 Egyptian citizens
- 255 Iraqi citizens
The decision aims to prevent illegal migration and possible negative impact on the EU visa liberalization process.
