On November 12, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Olle Burell, the Chair of Stockholm’s City Council. During their meeting, they discussed opportunities for cooperation between Yerevan and Stockholm, emphasizing areas such as green transition, urban innovations, and women’s involvement in local governance. Such collaboration can enable Armenia to benefit from European expertise in urban development and environmental conservation.
Mirzoyan and Burell also highlighted the importance of strengthening democratic values, actively involving civil society, and improving local governance.
During the same period, environmental activist Greta Thunberg arrived in Armenia to support Armenian environmental initiatives. Thunberg met with local environmentalists and visited Haghpat Monastery, underscoring the importance of environmental awareness in the region.
