The New Minowa Players (NMP) have announced that auditions for their upcoming production of the experimental play “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The auditions will be held at the NMP Theater, located at 906 South Mill Street in Decorah.
According to the production team, the play is a unique theatrical work that requires no rehearsals. Consequently, the directors have implemented a strict policy: individuals auditioning must not have seen the play or read the script previously. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
For the audition process, participants are asked to prepare a short story or monologue. Directors specify that these pieces do not need to be memorized; alternatively, actors may be asked to perform a “cold read” of a script provided by the director. The goal of the audition is to evaluate an actor’s ability to absorb information and emote spontaneously.
Once the cast is selected, performance dates are scheduled for September 10–13. Participants must ensure they are available for their assigned show slot, which will be determined following the conclusion of the audition process.
