Record Growth Driven by Cloud Infrastructure
Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 on September 10, 2026, reporting a 30% increase in total quarterly revenue to $19.3 billion. The primary driver of this growth was the company’s Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) business, which surged 121% in USD to $7.4 billion. Total cloud revenues, combining IaaS and SaaS, reached $11.6 billion, representing a 62% increase year-over-year.
The company’s performance highlights a significant shift in its business model as customers move away from legacy on-premises software. While software revenues declined by 3% to $5.5 billion, the rapid expansion of cloud services more than offset this decrease, leading to a 57% increase in GAAP operating income to $6.7 billion. GAAP earnings per share (EPS) rose 55% to $1.56, while non-GAAP EPS climbed 30% to $1.92.
AI Demand and Remaining Performance Obligations
Oracle’s Q1 investor report confirms that demand for AI cloud training and inferencing services continues to outpace supply. During the quarter, Oracle secured more than $30 billion in new AI cloud contracts, pushing its total Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO) to a record $664 billion. The company also accelerated its hardware deployment, delivering over 300,000 GPUs to AI cloud customers, nearly triple the capacity provided in the previous quarter.
To support this infrastructure expansion, Oracle reported a record Q1 operating cash flow of $23 billion, up 184%. However, the company noted a negative free cash flow of $5 billion for the quarter, reflecting heavy capital expenditures required to build out its datacenter capacity, which increased by 850MW during the period.
Strategic Outlook and New Product Launches
Looking ahead, Oracle provided guidance for Q2 FY 2027, projecting total revenue growth between 30% and 34%. For the full fiscal year 2027, the company expects total revenue to reach at least $90 billion. Management emphasized a focus on enterprise-grade AI, announcing a new AI Data Platform designed to automate the creation of Enterprise Ontologies, and a 100% Agentic AI Health Care Management system for clinical use.
The company also addressed its capital structure, confirming the successful sale of $20 billion in common stock through an At-the-Market (ATM) equity program. The board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share, payable on October 23, 2026, to stockholders of record as of October 9, 2026.
