Apple TV+ has officially premiered the sixth season of its critically acclaimed espionage series Slow Horses. The show, which follows a group of disgraced MI5 agents stationed at the administrative purgatory of Slough House, returns with a six-episode run that promises to push its characters to their breaking point. As reported by People, the new season adapts two novels from Mick Herron’s series—Joe Country and Slough House—marking the first time the show has combined two books in a single season.
The plot centers on a lethal conspiracy targeting the agents. According to the official logline, the Slough House team finds themselves on the run as First Desk Diana Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas, embroils them in a high-stakes game of retaliation. Sir Gary Oldman, who portrays the curmudgeonly but brilliant Jackson Lamb, told Town & Country that this season sees Lamb stepping up to protect his team, noting that his character “would take a bullet” for them.
Production Shifts and Cast Dynamics
The sixth season introduces significant changes behind the scenes. Following the departure of longtime showrunner Will Smith, Gaby Chiappe has taken the helm. Decider notes that while the transition was major, Chiappe has maintained the show’s established tone, pacing, and dark humor.
