Search Underway for 13-Year-Old
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has issued a Turquoise Alert for 13-year-old Skyler Conville, who remains missing following an encounter in Apache Junction. Authorities are urging the public to assist in locating the teenager, who was last seen on Friday afternoon at a Circle K parking lot located at the intersection of Meridian Drive and Superstition Boulevard.
According to reports from the Apache Junction Police Department, the incident occurred after the teenager had a disagreement with family members. Rather than entering a family vehicle, Conville was observed walking through the parking lot. Witnesses reported that she subsequently entered a 2000s-model white Chevrolet Impala four-door sedan. The vehicle is noted to have visible damage to the front driver’s-side bumper and was last seen heading west on Superstition Boulevard.
Understanding the Turquoise Alert
While often confused with the more widely known Amber Alert, a Turquoise Alert serves a distinct purpose in Arizona’s public safety infrastructure. It is typically activated for missing individuals under the age of 65 when law enforcement has exhausted local search efforts and determined that the circumstances of the disappearance are suspicious or unexplained, though the criteria do not necessarily meet the strict legal definition of a child abduction required for an Amber Alert.
The individual accompanying Conville is described as a man in his 50s or 60s, with black-and-gray hair, a beard, and dark eyes. At the time of the sighting, he was wearing a gray tank top, black shorts, and black sneakers. Skyler Conville is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing multi-camouflage pants, a dark gray shirt, and a hot pink bonnet.
