US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mark Libby has denied accusations from Azerbaijani officials regarding Washington’s alleged unfriendly policies toward Baku. Speaking at a meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the ambassador emphasized the strong partnership between the two nations over the years and highlighted the significant potential for future collaboration.
Libby pointed to Azerbaijan’s strategic geographic location, which positions it as a vital regional hub for transportation and logistics. “We aim to attract more trade missions, particularly in these areas, to support the next phase of Azerbaijan’s prosperity. US companies can play a major role in sectors like aerospace, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure,” the ambassador stated.
Addressing allegations from Azerbaijani officials, Libby rejected claims that the United States intends to undermine Azerbaijan. “Such accusations are the product of baseless and wild conspiracy theories. In response to this disinformation, I point to the successes of the past year and remind everyone of the strength of our partnership over the past three decades. This year, we marked the 30th anniversary of the ‘Contract of the Century,’ which stands as a testament to how Azerbaijani leadership, combined with US investments and political support, transformed the course of history,” Libby asserted.
Libby also stressed plans to expand trade cooperation, particularly in transportation, logistics, and technology sectors. He highlighted the role innovative American companies could play in supporting Azerbaijan’s growth in these critical areas.
The US ambassador reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan and underscored the critical role both nations can play in advancing the economic and political development of the region.
