A New Solo Chapter
On Thursday, July 30, 2026, BLACKPINK member Jisoo became the final member of the global pop group to complete the “Hot Ones” challenge. During her appearance on the popular web series, hosted by Sean Evans, the singer-actress provided a rare update on her much-anticipated debut full-length solo studio album. Following the success of her 2025 EP AMORTAGE, Jisoo confirmed that she is currently in the final stages of production for this new project.
“I made the effort to show a variety of charms,” Jisoo said regarding the album’s direction. “Whether it’s musical styles that I really liked or putting in different styles I liked listening to, it was to add a bit of color to the album.” She emphasized that transitioning from group activities to a solo record has been a significant journey of self-discovery, describing the work as a “bigger adventure” that allows her to explore her “true colors.”
The ‘Hot Ones’ Performance
Known for her reputation as having the highest spice tolerance within BLACKPINK, Jisoo lived up to expectations during the episode. While her bandmates Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa had previously struggled with the show’s signature spicy wing lineup, Jisoo maintained her composure through the majority of the interview. She revealed an unconventional pre-performance ritual: eating spicy food two hours before taking the stage. “Eating spicy foods relaxes my throat, and as a result, I sing better. I sweat and relieve stress in my body,” she explained.
Beyond the music and the wings, Jisoo showcased her personality, sharing her latest English language acquisitions. Guided by her bandmates, she has recently added the phrase “piece of cake” to her vocabulary, which she admitted to using to playfully surprise those around her. Despite her resilience, the heat eventually took its toll toward the end of the episode, requiring her to utilize milk and ice cream to manage the spice level.
Looking Ahead
Jisoo’s 2026 schedule remains packed. Following the conclusion of BLACKPINK’s latest tour in January and the February release of the EP Deadline, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, fans have been eager for further solo material. While she has previously been cautious about pinning down an exact release date, her comments on Hot Ones confirm that the project is a top priority as she moves beyond her earlier EP work.
Outside of her music career, Jisoo continues to expand her footprint in acting. She is set to star in the upcoming zombie comedy series Newtopia, an adaptation of Han Sang-Hoon’s novel Influenza, alongside actor Park Jeong-min. This dual focus on music and film highlights the artist’s ongoing evolution as a multifaceted performer.
