Real Madrid has agreed a deal to sign Levante striker Carlos Espi, the clubs announced on Thursday. The 21-year-old forward is set to join the Spanish giants on a five-year contract through to 2031.
Espi had a €25 million release clause in his contract with Levante, which Real Madrid has met to secure the transfer. The move follows reports from The Athletic on June 24 that new Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho was keen to add a striker to his squad this summer, contingent on a first-team departure.
This potential departure materialized on Thursday with reports that Fulham are close to signing 22-year-old Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia. Garcia’s expected move creates the necessary space in the squad for Espi’s arrival.
Real Madrid has been active in the current transfer window, having already secured deals for Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, and Marc Cucurella. The club is also reportedly working on bringing in Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Rodri from Manchester City.
Espi has represented Spain at the under-19 and under-20 levels. He joined Levante’s youth academy in 2022 and made his first-team debut in February 2024. His La Liga debut came in August 2025.
During his time at Levante, Espi scored 20 goals in 66 senior appearances. He netted seven goals in 38 games in La Liga 2, Spain’s second division, before scoring 11 goals in 25 La Liga matches last season.
