Bridgeport Woman Arrested in East Haven Drug Bust Yielding Fentanyl and Cocaine

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (Azat TV) – A 26-year-old Bridgeport woman faces multiple felony narcotics charges in Connecticut following a joint local and federal investigation that culminated in a vehicle search and the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit substances, authorities announced.

Candace Rogers was arrested last Thursday after detectives and patrol officers from the East Haven Police Department, working in coordination with task force officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), intercepted her vehicle near Hemingway Avenue. According to Captain Joseph M. Murgo of the East Haven Police Department, the arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation into suspected narcotics distribution in the area.

Investigators had previously identified a vehicle believed to be utilized in the illicit drug trade. On the day of the arrest, officers observed the vehicle in the vicinity of Hemingway Avenue and witnessed Rogers engaging in a brief interaction in a local Stop & Shop parking lot. Law enforcement officials characterized the encounter as consistent with a street-level drug transaction.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified Rogers as the driver and detained her. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded what police described as a substantial quantity of narcotics. According to Captain Murgo, officers seized approximately 125 grams of suspected fentanyl, 67.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and 36.4 grams of suspected powder cocaine. In addition to the illicit substances, authorities recovered a digital scale, packaging materials, two mobile phones, and a large amount of cash.

Rogers has been formally charged with three counts of sale of narcotics, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of use of drug paraphernalia. Following her processing, she was released after posting a $150,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear for arraignment in New Haven Superior Court on August 19, 2026.
