Following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, Chelsea FC has intensified its recruitment efforts under manager Xabi Alonso. The club has reached a significant agreement to sign versatile attacker Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported £117 million, as the west London side looks to finalize its squad before the Premier League season begins in August.
The move for Rogers follows a period of notable squad turnover. Chelsea has successfully generated £126 million through high-profile sales, including Marc Cucurella’s £51.8 million move to Real Madrid, Andrey Santos’ £50 million transfer to Manchester United, and Tyrique George’s £24 million switch to Everton. These departures have provided the financial flexibility required for Alonso to reshape the team.
Despite the progress on the attacking front, defensive recruitment remains a priority. Negotiations for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix and Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria are ongoing. While Lacroix is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea has yet to reach a fee agreement with Crystal Palace. Similarly, talks for Chavarria have hit a hurdle, with Chelsea sources indicating that Rayo Vallecano has increased their valuation from an initial €15 million to €25 million.
Additionally, the club is actively seeking to offload winger Alejandro Garnacho. Chelsea has made it clear that they will not entertain loan offers for the Argentine, with AS Roma currently positioned as the front-runner in negotiations, provided they meet the club’s £42.5 million asking price.
