Court Invalidates Yerevan’s New Parking Rates

Armenia’s Administrative Court has declared invalid the Yerevan City Council’s decision that introduced new parking rates in the city’s parking zones, effective from January 1 of this year. Yerevan Municipality spokesperson Hayk Kostanyan announced that the court’s ruling has not yet come into effect and will be appealed by the municipality within the one-month legal timeframe.

Kostanyan also clarified that payments already made under the new rates will not be subject to refund, even if the court’s decision comes into force.

The ruling has sparked public debate regarding the management of parking zones, the fairness of pricing, and the protection of citizens’ rights. The municipality has assured the public that updates on future actions will be provided and that all necessary steps will be taken in compliance with the law.

This development raises further questions about the legality and governance of Yerevan’s parking system, keeping the issue at the forefront of public attention.
