Roster Reinforcements
The Los Angeles Dodgers made significant moves to bolster their pitching staff on Monday, reinstating right-hander Evan Phillips from the injured list. Phillips, who has been sidelined since May 2025 following Tommy John surgery, returns after a successful 12-game rehab stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he posted a 1.80 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 10 innings.
In addition to Phillips’ return, the club added right-hander Carlos Duran to the 40-man roster. Duran has appeared in 30 games for Oklahoma City this season, recording 50 strikeouts in 35 innings. To accommodate these moves, the Dodgers optioned right-hander Paul Gervase to Triple-A, released left-hander Jake Eder, and designated catcher Chuckie Robinson for assignment.
Drama on the Diamond
The organizational updates followed a high-tension Monday night matchup against the Colorado Rockies. The game saw benches clear in the 10th inning after a heated exchange at home plate between Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing and Rockies runner Cole Carrigg. The confrontation occurred after Rushing tagged Carrigg following a close play at the plate, leading to a brief verbal altercation that was quickly de-escalated by teammates.
Rushing, currently filling in for the injured Will Smith, turned the momentum in the bottom of the 11th inning with a walk-off single. The hit secured a 60th win for the Dodgers, finishing a 3-for-5 performance for the catcher. Rushing, who has maintained a .265 batting average with 10 home runs this season, remains a key piece of the Dodgers’ lineup as they look toward the post-All-Star break stretch and potential postseason positioning.
