German Economy and Energy Minister Katherina Reiche will travel to Türkiye this Thursday for a two-day visit focused on expanding bilateral economic and energy cooperation, the ministry announced in Berlin on Monday.
Ministry spokeswoman Susanne Ungrad stated that the visit aims to reinforce ties with a “strategically important partner.” During the trip, Minister Reiche is scheduled to participate in the Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) meetings and the German-Turkish Energy Forum. She will be accompanied by a delegation of approximately 30 business leaders representing key industrial and energy sectors.
The visit follows a stated ambition by both nations, announced during Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s October 2025 trip to Ankara, to increase bilateral trade volume to over $60 billion. Germany remains Türkiye’s top export destination, with trade between the two countries exceeding $52 billion last year. Currently, more than 8,000 companies with German capital operate within Türkiye, forming the backbone of the existing economic partnership.
