Australian fashion retailer Glue Store has officially ceased all operations, marking the end of a brand that has been a staple of the retail landscape since 1998. The company has permanently shut down its e-commerce website and is closing its final brick-and-mortar location at Melbourne Emporium this week.
The decision to wind down the business follows a difficult financial performance reported by parent company Accent Group. In February, the company disclosed an $8.4 million loss for the first half of the 2025-26 financial year. Following these results, Accent Group confirmed its strategy to exit the Glue business entirely, citing a need to consolidate its broader retail portfolio.
Accent Group had already shuttered 17 stores in the preceding year and moved to close the remaining 16 locations by the end of the fourth quarter of the 2026 financial year. Investors have been informed that the exit from the Glue brand is expected to bolster the parent group’s bottom line, with projected earnings forecast to increase by $16 million in the coming year.
While Glue Store has exited the market, Accent Group continues to operate several other brands, directing customers to its remaining retail network for future fashion needs.
