During today’s session, the Armenian government approved the extension of the housing assistance program for retired military personnel by two years, until December 2026. The program aims to support former servicemen who did not receive free housing during their military service but were in need of improved housing conditions.
Launched in 2019, the program is funded through an extrabudgetary deposit account under the Ministry of Defense. To date, 5.7 billion AMD has been allocated, of which 4.78 billion AMD has been used to provide housing certificates to 564 families. As of September 10, 2024, there were 702 beneficiaries on the waiting list, with 344 of them residing in Yerevan.
According to government reports, the program currently has a remaining balance of 921.7 million AMD, which will be utilized to support additional beneficiaries. Furthermore, housing certificates with a one-year redemption period have been issued to 93 individuals.
This decision ensures the continuation of financial assistance for both current and new applicants, addressing the housing needs of families who faced challenges during their military service.
