Hulu has officially greenlit Shifter, a new high-concept science fiction series, according to reports confirmed on July 14, 2026. The project reunites key creative talent from the critically acclaimed series Severance, including actor Adam Scott and writers Ezra Claytan Daniels and Eli Jorné.
Based on the graphic novel by Koren Shadmi, Shifter is set in a near-future world where an illicit cosmetic procedure allows individuals to alter their facial features instantaneously. This development gives rise to an underground industry of “Shifters”—professionals hired to impersonate others. The narrative follows Rose, a top-tier performer in this industry, who begins to lose her sense of identity as she takes on increasingly complex assignments.
Ezra Claytan Daniels and Eli Jorné are set to write the series and serve as executive producers. Adam Scott, along with Naomi Scott and Kevin Cotter of Great Scott Productions, will also executive produce. Koren Shadmi is attached as a consulting producer. The move underscores Hulu’s broader strategy to secure talent-driven, genre-bending projects to maintain its competitive position in the streaming market.
