The Armenian government has taken a significant step to expand its leasing program by including communities as eligible beneficiaries. At the December 5 cabinet meeting, Deputy Minister of Economy introduced the decision, aimed at enhancing oversight and broadening access to mobile slaughterhouse services across rural areas.
Until now, mobile or modular mobile slaughterhouses were leased under conditions that required lessees to commit to providing slaughterhouse services in designated areas. However, there was no mechanism to monitor compliance. Under the new decision, monitoring will be delegated to the respective regional or community authorities where the mobile slaughterhouses operate.
This reform marks a turning point for Armenia’s agricultural sector, enabling communities to participate in the program and ensuring that mobile slaughterhouses fulfill their obligations. The Deputy Minister highlighted that these changes would expand the range of beneficiaries and ensure stricter compliance with service obligations.
Prime Minister underscored the significance of this decision, noting that it opens the program to all communities. Communities can now acquire mobile slaughterhouses under the same terms as other beneficiaries, fostering inclusive participation and addressing specific local needs.
