Mountain Dew has announced a promotional campaign offering 1,948 limited-edition commemorative soda bundles for five cents each. The promotion, which serves as a nod to the brand’s founding year of 1948, will take place exclusively via TikTok Shop over a three-day period starting June 29 and concluding July 1.
According to company releases, each bundle includes a specially designed commemorative can featuring historical branding, paired with a 10-pack of Mountain Dew mini cans. Purchases are strictly limited to one bundle per customer to manage high expected demand.
Strategic Marketing and Scarcity
The initiative is part of the broader ‘American Original – Tasting Great Since ’48’ campaign, which highlights the brand’s Tennessee roots. Michael Smith, VP of Marketing for Mountain Dew at PepsiCo Beverages U.S., stated that the promotion is designed to bring the brand’s origin story to life while engaging fans through a unique, nostalgia-driven experience.
The company will utilize its Instagram Stories to announce the daily quantity of available bundles at 12 p.m. ET each day. By leveraging TikTok Shop for this limited-quantity drop, the brand continues its strategy of utilizing digital-first platforms to maintain market engagement and foster virality, a hallmark of its recent marketing efforts.
