The New York Jets hosted three kickers for workouts on Wednesday, including eight-time All-Pro Justin Tucker, according to a report from The Athletic. The team is continuing its search for a reliable option at the position just days before the start of the regular season.
Alongside the 36-year-old Tucker, the Jets worked out Michael Badgley and Josh Karty. Despite these evaluations, no immediate signing is expected, as the organization intends to evaluate Blake Grupe, who was claimed off waivers on Monday, as the primary candidate for the Week 1 roster. The team also re-signed veteran Jason Sanders to the practice squad on Tuesday following his release on Sunday.
This report draws on information published by The New York Times.
Tucker, who has not appeared in an NFL game since 2024, was released by the Baltimore Ravens in May 2025. His 2025 departure followed a 10-game suspension for violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, stemming from accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior by multiple massage therapists. Tucker has denied the allegations, which he labeled “unequivocally false.” His final season in Baltimore marked a career low, with a 73.3 percent field goal conversion rate.
The Jets’ special teams unit has been in significant flux throughout the offseason. The club has signed and released five different kickers, including Younghoe Koo and Cade York, as they struggle to stabilize the position following the departure of former kicker Nick Folk.
