Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, stated during the “Armenia-Iran: Current Cooperation and New Prospects” conference that Iran welcomes the opening of regional transport routes while respecting Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to Sobhani, Iran’s stance is clear in opposing geopolitical changes and the so-called “Zangezur Corridor.”
Sobhani emphasized the longstanding friendship between Armenia and Iran, which does not require the involvement of external influences. Iran and Armenia have maintained steady cooperation that should not be swayed by the interests of third countries. The ambassador added that any “corridor-based” policies would disrupt regional peace.
Commenting on Iran’s policy, Sobhani highlighted that Armenia-Iran relations developed previously without any external barriers. The connection between Armenia and Iran is profound and long-term, ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Sobhani reiterated Iran’s commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect and growth, noting that any deviation from Armenia’s sovereignty poses risks to regional stability.
