In its session on November 7, the Armenian government approved changes to an agreement between the governments of Armenia and Mongolia, allowing citizens with diplomatic and official passports to enter without a visa. This amendment now also grants visa-free access to ordinary passport holders.
The agreement, in effect since June 2, 2019, initially offered entry privileges solely to individuals with special status. However, the Mongolian government proposed extending this benefit to tourists as well. This initiative is anticipated to increase tourism flow and support the development of Armenia-Mongolia business connections.
According to the amendment, Armenian and Mongolian citizens with ordinary passports will now be able to visit each other’s countries without a visa for up to 30 days. This change signifies a new era of cooperation, facilitating both tourism and mutual ties.
However, this amendment does not include the removal of visa requirements for long-term stays or residency. The agreement specifies that extended visits or business-related travel should follow separate procedures.
