Texas Tech University has officially entered into a 15-year naming rights partnership with the digital assets and infrastructure firm Galaxy. The agreement, announced Friday, will see the university’s football stadium—formerly known as Jones AT&T Stadium—rebranded as Galaxy Stadium beginning with the 2026 season.
According to the university, the partnership aims to establish a new revenue stream for the athletics department. This deal arrives at a significant juncture for the Red Raiders, who are coming off a Big 12 title and a recent appearance in the College Football Playoff. The university confirmed that the agreement also includes provisions for Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for Texas Tech student-athletes.
Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt praised the partnership in a statement, noting that the long-term collaboration is expected to have a lasting impact on the program’s future. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the move aligns with the university’s efforts to capitalize on its recent athletic successes.
The announcement follows a period of heightened scrutiny for the university regarding its football program. Earlier, Texas Tech faced controversy involving quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who had transferred from Cincinnati despite a prior NCAA suspension for gambling violations. The situation drew external attention, including intervention from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who challenged potential NCAA sanctions against the institution.
