A man charged with threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk is scheduled to stand trial in December. The proceedings, originally slated for Wednesday, were postponed by Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring at Westminster Magistrates’ Court following concerns regarding the defendant’s mental health.
Alex Jenkinson, 39, faces charges of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behavior. Prosecutors allege that on May 6, while Mountbatten-Windsor was walking his dogs, Jenkinson engaged in conduct intended to cause the former royal to “fear unlawful violence.” Jenkinson, who was not present in court on Wednesday, has entered a plea of not guilty. He also denies a separate charge involving similar behavior directed at a man named Stephen Terry in King’s Lynn on the preceding day.
The trial is now set to commence on December 21. Court officials indicated that Mountbatten-Windsor is expected to provide evidence via videolink. Under the terms of his conditional bail, Jenkinson is strictly prohibited from entering Norfolk or approaching several royal residences, including Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor, and Highgrove. Furthermore, he is barred from initiating any direct or indirect contact with Mountbatten-Windsor.
Mountbatten-Windsor currently resides at Marsh Farm. His status has undergone significant changes following his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein; he was stripped of his dukedom and his title as a prince by the King late last year. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding the allegations linked to Epstein.
