Nationwide Frozen Pasta Recall

Gias Foods, Inc. has expanded its safety recall to cover all lots of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine sold at Walmart stores across the United States, according to guidance published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The frozen product, packaged in 22-ounce yellow plastic bags with UPC No. 194346442706, is being pulled from shelves due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the FDA, the recall action was triggered after routine sampling programs conducted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services detected the presence of the bacteria in finished product samples. In response to the findings, Gias Foods has halted distribution of the frozen pasta while federal regulators and company officials investigate the source of the contamination.

Health Risks and Consumer Guidance

While no illnesses have been officially reported in connection with the recalled Bettergoods pasta to date, health authorities warn that Listeria infections can cause serious and occasionally fatal illnesses. Vulnerable populations, including young children, frail or elderly individuals, and people with compromised immune systems, face the highest risk of severe complications. In pregnant women, infections can lead to miscarriages and stillbirths.

Healthy individuals who consume contaminated products may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Consumers who have purchased the 22-ounce packages are advised not to consume the item and should return it to any Walmart location for a full refund.
