In comments reported on October 19, 2026, Following the conclusion of Season 4 on Apple TV, co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis has opened up about the potential future of the hit comedy series, acknowledging that he is personally open to developing fifth and sixth installments despite no formal plans being in place.

Sudeikis discussed the series’ prospective future during an appearance on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, reported by Deadline, noting that while he would like to continue the story, such an undertaking “takes a village.” When asked if Apple would be open to more episodes, the actor remarked that he would assume so, though he admitted he ultimately does not know and confirmed that no writers’ room has been assembled.

Creative Inspiration and Season 4 Resolution

Reflecting on the creative process, host Sam Fragoso pointed out that Sudeikis had initially felt creatively drained with an empty cup before conceiving Season 4. Asked if a similar effort could yield two more seasons, Sudeikis joked that they would “need a bigger cup.” However, he revealed that after the hiatus following Season 3, he began hearing the characters’ voices again, along with new voices from the female team members introduced in Season 3, describing the prospect of more episodes as fun.

The fourth season concluded on October 7 with an episode titled “Being Alive,” which followed Ted returning to London to coach AFC Richmond’s new women’s football team. The finale wrapped up several major arcs: Ted passed team management to Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds) and became an assistant manager alongside Coach Beard, Roy Kent accepted a manager position at Chelsea FC while expecting a child with Keeley Jones, and Rebecca Welton proposed to her partner Matthijs.

Production Uncertainty and Co-Creator Stance

Executive producer and co-creator Brendan Hunt also addressed renewal speculation in October 7 remarks recounted by E! Online, explaining that he hopes a fifth season happens but that he has not heard anything official yet. Hunt noted that Sudeikis plays his cards close to his chest regarding ongoing discussions with network executives.

While the Season 4 finale tied up most major storylines without leaving cliffhangers, Hunt emphasized that several narrative questions remain unresolved, including Ted and Beard operating as peers, Roy and Keeley parenthood, and how the team will adjust to leadership under Alice Chilton. For now, however, no official production steps have been announced.
