Starting today, new legislative regulations have come into force in Armenia, making the use of winter tires mandatory until March 31. The operation of vehicles will be prohibited under the following conditions:
Light passenger cars and trucks with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tons are not equipped with winter tires.
The tread depth of winter tires is 4 millimeters or less on icy or snow-covered roads.
Vehicles are equipped with studded anti-skid tires during June, July, and August, when their use is prohibited.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds citizens that violations of these requirements will result in administrative penalties. Drivers are urged to comply with traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
These regulations are part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to creating a safe environment for citizens’ lives and health. Road safety remains a top priority, and the proper use of winter tires is a critical step toward preventing accidents and ensuring smooth travel during the winter months.
