Aldi’s promotional campaign, which offers free “Blind Box” grocery bundles, has faced significant criticism from customers as inventory is claimed within minutes of the daily noon ET releases. The promotion, running from June 22 to June 25, 2026, has seen high demand far exceeding the limited supply of fewer than 100 boxes per day.
According to the company, the boxes feature rotating daily themes, including snacks and protein-focused items, with an estimated value of $50 each. However, the scarcity of the offer has led to widespread frustration on social media, with many users reporting that they are unable to secure a box despite attempting to access the site immediately at the release time.
Aldi has clarified on its dedicated promotional website that inventory is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and warned that being directed to a checkout queue typically indicates that all available units have already been claimed. The promotion excludes several regions, including Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Washington, Montana, New Mexico, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
This consumer backlash arrives amid persistent concerns regarding “food-flation.” Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that food prices remain 3.1% higher than they were a year ago. For many households, the prospect of receiving $50 worth of groceries at no cost represents a significant incentive, amplifying the disappointment felt by those unable to participate in the giveaway.
