A New Era for Chivas de Guadalajara
Club Deportivo Guadalajara, widely known as Chivas, has officially launched its inaugural kit collection under a new multi-year partnership with Nike. This collaboration, which makes Nike the club’s exclusive sports sponsor and supplier, covers the men’s, women’s, youth, and esports teams, as well as the technical staff.
The partnership, which debuted on the pitch on July 18, 2026, marks a significant shift for one of Mexican football’s most storied institutions. According to Nike, the agreement is designed to honor the club’s 120-year legacy while advancing its “Futuro Sagrado” (Sacred Future) initiative, which focuses on community engagement and the development of Mexican talent.
Design and Technological Integration
The new home kit introduces a return to the classic polo collar, a design choice intended to evoke historical club moments. In contrast, the away kit utilizes a modern gradient aesthetic, blending the club’s signature red and blue colors across a white base. Both kits feature a new custom wordmark that incorporates subtle horn-inspired details, paying homage to the club’s “goat” identity.
Beyond aesthetics, the kits are powered by Nike’s Aero-FIT technology. This innovation uses specialized knitting techniques and mapped mesh zones to maximize airflow and thermal regulation. By engineering graphic elements directly into the fabric, Nike aims to maintain high levels of breathability without sacrificing the visual integrity of the design.
Strategic Stakes
For Chivas, the partnership is a tool to strengthen ties with its global fanbase—estimated at over 40 million people across Mexico, the United States, and beyond. Amaury Vergara, President and Owner of Chivas, stated that the collaboration aligns with the club’s vision of blending innovation with the tradition of fielding exclusively Mexican players.
For Nike, the deal represents a long-term commitment to the Latin American football market. Camilo Andrade, VP/GM of Nike Football, emphasized that the partnership seeks to influence football culture in the region by serving athletes at all levels and elevating the women’s game. As both organizations look toward the future, the integration of advanced apparel technology and community-focused branding will likely serve as the blueprint for Chivas’ next chapter in professional football.
