Nottingham Forest is reportedly closing in on the sale of midfielder Elliot Anderson, with an official announcement expected in the coming days. According to reports from the Nottingham Post, the transaction is strategically timed to fall within the new football financial year, which began on July 1.
The departure of Anderson is viewed as a pivotal move for the club’s summer transfer strategy. By banking the transfer fee after July 1, the club expects to secure a budget sufficient to sign a minimum of three to four new players. Manager Vitor Pereira has identified central midfield as a primary area for reinforcement, with the club already monitoring potential targets, including Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall, and Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood.
Beyond midfield, the club is also prioritizing additions to the forward line to reduce the current reliance on Chris Wood for goal production. The financial flexibility gained from the Anderson deal is also expected to stabilize the squad’s core. Club officials remain confident that they can retain key players such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo, and Neco Williams despite ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the City Ground.
