Expanded Run for BBC Daytime Hit
The BBC has confirmed that television presenter Helen Skelton will return for a third series of the popular programme Lost and Found in the Lakes. Produced by Wrexham-based Tŷ’r Ddraig, the series has been granted an extended 20-episode run, marking a significant increase in scale for the production.
The series, which airs on BBC One and is available via BBC iPlayer, follows Skelton and a specialist team—including divers, detectorists, and archaeologists—as they search the Lake District for lost personal items. The production team confirmed that filming is scheduled to take place throughout the summer of 2026, with a broadcast date pencilled in for 2027.
Focus on Emotional Storytelling
The programme has gained traction for its intersection of historical discovery and emotional personal narratives. Previous series have seen the team reunite members of the public with high-value or sentimental items, such as an engagement ring lost for six decades and a bronze elephant recovered from the depths of Windermere following a boat fire.
“I’m delighted to be returning to the Lakes for another series,” said Helen Skelton. “What makes this programme so special is the combination of incredible searches and the personal stories behind every lost item. It’s always a privilege to help reunite people with belongings they never thought they’d see again.”
Executive Producer Zoe Thorman noted that the expansion to 20 episodes will allow the team to explore more of the Lake District and tackle a broader range of search requests. The production also utilizes local craftspeople to restore discarded items found during the searches, turning them into functional works of art if the original owners cannot be traced.
