A Critical Opportunity Under New Management
Federico Chiesa has confirmed his intention to participate in Liverpool’s upcoming pre-season training camp in the United States, signaling a decisive move to salvage his career at Anfield. The Italy international, who has faced limited playing time over the past two seasons, is looking to impress new head coach Andoni Iraola before making a final decision on his future.
According to reports from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa is in no rush to force an exit despite persistent interest from Serie A clubs, including Napoli, Inter Milan, and Roma. The forward, who joined Liverpool from Juventus in 2024, has expressed a clear desire for consistency, noting that his lack of playing time since the start of 2026 has been a significant hurdle. “I want to play. If I don’t find consistency in the Premier League, I’ll have to look elsewhere,” Chiesa recently stated.
The Stakes at Anfield
The situation represents a pivotal moment for both the player and the club. While Liverpool supporters have remained largely supportive of the versatile attacker, his output under former manager Arne Slot—resulting in only one league start last season—left his status in the squad in doubt. Internal sources suggest the club has set a valuation between £10m and £15m for the forward should he decide to move on.
For Andoni Iraola, the pre-season period provides a blank slate to assess how Chiesa’s technical versatility can fit into his tactical framework. With Hugo Ekitike currently sidelined until December, Liverpool’s need for depth in the attacking third makes the upcoming weeks critical. Whether Chiesa remains a Red will depend on the chemistry established during the US tour and his ability to prove his value in the new coaching regime.
