Medical Screening Saves Life
A mandatory pre-fight medical examination has effectively saved the life of a combat sports athlete ahead of the ‘Beauty vs. The Beast’ event, headlined by Tommy Fury and Eddie Hall. The event, scheduled for June 13 at the AO Arena in Manchester, has faced a significant change to its undercard following the diagnostic results of adult film star Leah Gotti.
Gotti, who was slated to face Australian influencer Little Bellsy, was removed from the lineup after mandatory MRI and MRA scans revealed a brain aneurysm and white matter lesions. According to reports, Gotti was referred to a neurologist for further testing, which confirmed the presence of the aneurysm. “I can’t fight, which is really sad. But God has other plans for me. Obviously, my health is my everything,” Gotti stated following the diagnosis. She has since been replaced by MMA veteran Andy Nguyen.
Importance of Combat Protocols
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical role of rigorous medical protocols in contact sports. While the cancellation of a fight is often viewed as a logistical setback, the identification of a life-threatening condition such as a brain aneurysm underscores why regulatory bodies enforce strict pre-fight screening standards. The Misfits Boxing event, which will be broadcast on DAZN, continues as planned with Andy Nguyen stepping in to maintain the integrity of the fight card.
In separate news, Tommy Fury is also in the spotlight for personal milestones, as he and partner Molly-Mae Hague recently announced the birth of their second child. Following a highly publicized split in 2024, the couple has reconciled and confirmed the addition to their family, stating, “…and then there were 4.”
