Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially announced that the next chapter in the Ghostbusters franchise will be titled Ghostbusters: Night Shift. The announcement, which included the reveal of the series’ logo, was made on Saturday, June 6, 2026, coinciding with the annual celebration of “Ghostbusters Day,” which marks the anniversary of the original 1984 film.

The project is being developed by executive producers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, alongside creative team members Ben Hibon and Elliott Kalan. According to the studios, the series is intended to expand the existing franchise “family tree,” maintaining continuity with the original films and previous animated iterations like The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters. The 2027 release window provides the production team with a clear timeline to differentiate this series from previous film installments.

Beyond the creative announcement, the event highlighted the franchise’s ongoing philanthropic efforts. During the reveal, Sony Pictures and Jay Levine presented a $150,000 donation to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. This contribution, combined with fan-driven fundraising through the “Ghostbusters Give Back” initiative, brought the total funds raised to $666,000. Additionally, actress Celeste O’Connor participated in community outreach by visiting pediatric patients at Maimonides Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, reinforcing the brand’s focus on its active fan community alongside its upcoming media slate.
