Hamilton, a 6-foot-5 first baseman and pitcher, was one of 250 high school athletes selected from across the country based on performances at MLB’s ID Tour and various scouting showcases. During his time in Florida, Hamilton worked directly under former MLB stars Reggie Smith and Howie Kendrick.
For Hamilton, the experience offered both a platform for national exposure and a unique environment for development. “I get to play with people who look like me for a few days and all of us want the same outcome,” Hamilton noted. “I’m definitely trying to learn but also showcase what I have. I’m soaking in all the information I can with all these ex-pros.”
The invitation marks a significant milestone in Hamilton’s recovery. His sophomore season at Homewood-Flossmoor was largely sidelined by a broken thumb sustained early in the year. Having returned to full health, he is now shifting his focus toward the remainder of the summer circuit, including an upcoming appearance at the Area Code Games in August.
