Police Investigation Underway
A 3-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition after entering a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo in Cambridgeshire on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Cambridgeshire Police were called to the scene near Huntingdon at approximately 1:30 PM following reports of the incident.
Authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder. Detective Inspector Verity McCann stated that investigators are currently interviewing witnesses who were present at the zoo to determine the circumstances surrounding how the child entered the pen.
No Known Connection
Police have confirmed that the suspect and the child are not believed to be known to each other. The boy was transported to a hospital by air ambulance, where he remains under medical care. Specially trained officers are currently supporting the victim’s family.
Local MP Ben Obese-Jecty issued a statement urging the public to refrain from online speculation as the investigation continues. Johnsons of Old Hurst, a family-owned zoo and farm attraction, has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the breach of safety protocols. The zoo, which houses over 100 animals, remains under active police investigation.
