A Decade of Growth for the Preschool Phenomenon

Marking its tenth anniversary in August 2024, the preschool franchise Blippi has rolled out an expansive slate of high-profile partnerships, according to an exclusive report by Variety. Created in 2014 by Stevin John and subsequently acquired by Candle Media-owned Moonbug Entertainment in 2020, the digital-first property has undergone extensive commercial scaling over the past decade. Under Moonbug’s stewardship, the franchise expanded its distribution footprint from four platforms to 67, while tripling its monthly YouTube viewership figures. Furthermore, Blippi music content generates more than 300 million streams annually, and the brand logged 230 million global watch hours on Netflix in 2023, according to public engagement data released by the streaming platform.

The anniversary rollout pairs traditional digital expansion with physical branding, live tours, and unexpected celebrity crossovers. According to Moonbug general manager Katelynn Heil, the strategy centers on engaging influencers and organizations that connect with the franchise’s core philosophy of natural curiosity and vehicular fascination. These deals follow prior collaborations with major brands such as Sesame Street, The Wiggles, Reebok, Build-A-Bear, NASA, and Wimbledon, positioning the property as a fixture across both digital screens and traditional retail markets.

Celebrity Duets and Sustainable Playhouses

Among the most prominent collaborations announced for the milestone is a partnership with Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actress Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried has teamed up with the franchise for a Broadway-style music video featuring a remade duet of the hit Blippi song “Excavator.” In the video, Blippi and Seyfried perform a song-and-dance number during an excavator-themed play date. Speaking to Variety, Seyfried noted that her children are captivated by the show and that the partnership aligns with her own children’s playhouse company, Make It Cute, which emphasizes sustainability. As part of the crossover, Blippi filmed social media content highlighting Make It Cute playhouses. Moonbug executives noted that additional talent, including former U.S. Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and former NFL player Joe Haden, have also recently participated in franchise content.

Industrial Partnerships and the Go Go Blippi Show

To bolster the vehicle-themed content that anchors much of the franchise’s appeal, Moonbug has secured strategic tie-ins with major industrial and racing brands. Caterpillar, Monster Jam, and Formula 1 are all joining forces with the brand to support the launch of the upcoming series “Go Go Blippi Show” in November 2024. Formula 1 is slated to participate in two episodes designed to introduce racing to younger audiences while engaging parents who already follow the motorsport league. According to Heil, the collaboration represents the beginning of a potentially longer-term relationship evaluated through fan engagement metrics.

In addition to the upcoming series, Moonbug has scheduled a lineup of special anniversary programming. This includes four 15-minute special episodes released in late August 2024, beginning with “Blippi’s Biggest Ball Pit Challenge,” which features 500,000 foam balls and construction equipment provided by Caterpillar. Other specials include an under-the-sea foam party, a dinosaur dance party, and a candy escape challenge. Concurrently, live touring productions such as “Blippi: Join the Band Tour” continue to expand the brand’s footprint across the United States and Canada.
