Shares of Nebius Group (NBIS) jumped 14% on Wednesday after Nvidia announced a $2 billion investment into the artificial intelligence cloud provider. This capital injection, part of a broader strategic partnership, solidifies a collaboration centered on the deployment of large-scale AI infrastructure, fleet management, and the design of next-generation AI factories.
Nvidia Deepens AI Infrastructure Bet
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the investment as a testament to confidence in Nebius’ engineering capabilities, noting that the company is specifically building a cloud environment for the “agentic era.” According to the announcement, the two firms will work closely to integrate Nvidia’s accelerated compute technology directly into Nebius’ software stack. For Nebius, the deal provides the resources to scale its gigawatt-scale AI factories in the United States and abroad, catering to the surging demand for specialized AI hardware and software.
Financial Momentum and Market Outlook
The market reaction follows a period of rapid growth for Nebius, which recently reported a 547% year-over-year revenue increase for the fourth quarter. The company has exceeded its annual recurring revenue (ARR) guidance, reaching $1.25 billion, and has seen significant improvements in its core EBITDA margins. Looking ahead, Nebius has set ambitious 2026 targets, including a projected $7–9 billion in ARR and $3.2 billion in revenue, supported by aggressive global expansion plans across Europe, the U.S., and Asia-Pacific.
Strategic Implications for AI Builders
Nebius CEO Arkady Volozh emphasized that his firm was designed specifically for AI developers rather than adapting general-purpose cloud infrastructure. By aligning with Nvidia, Nebius aims to provide a vertically integrated solution that spans from the silicon level to inference software. This investment is the latest in a series of major capital allocations by Nvidia, which has recently secured stakes in companies like CoreWeave, Synopsys, and Thinking Machines Lab to bolster its ecosystem of AI partners.
The substantial capital commitment from Nvidia, combined with Nebius’ aggressive operational scaling, suggests that the market is beginning to price in a shift toward specialized AI-native cloud providers, though the company’s planned $16–20 billion capital expenditure for 2026 remains a critical factor for investors to monitor regarding long-term profitability.
