New Day-One Title Joins PlayStation Plus
Sony has confirmed that the co-op looter shooter Mycopunk will join the PlayStation Plus Extra tier as a day-one release on October 20, 2026. According to reporting by GamingBible, the title will make its console debut on the PlayStation 5 simultaneously with its departure from PC early access.

Developed by Pigeons at Play and published by Devolver Digital, Mycopunk tasks players with controlling the “Atlas Hazard Crew,” a group of robot rejects hired by the SAXON corporation to combat a fungal threat on alien planets. The game features a first-person perspective, a grid-based upgrade system for futuristic weaponry, and a social hub known as the “Roach Motel” where players can manage gear between missions.
Strategic Value for Subscription Tiers
The inclusion of Mycopunk marks the third day-one launch for the service this year, following the releases of Big Walk and Runescape: Dragonwilds. By securing day-one titles, Sony aims to bolster the value proposition of its Extra and Premium tiers against increasing competition in the subscription gaming market.
While the “Essential” tier free game lineup for October is scheduled for announcement on Wednesday, September 30, the Extra and Premium additions are set to arrive on October 14. Mycopunk, which has maintained a ‘Very Positive’ 91% rating on Steam during its early access period, is expected to draw interest from fans of titles like Helldivers II and Borderlands.
